He lives near Rose Lake in the LeRoy area. He’s a longtime golfer in the Monday Masters league at Spring Valley Golf Course and has played in it for more than 20 years. He also plays in the Thursday night men’s league at Katke.
But Alderson especially enjoys the Monday league with emphasis on the senior citizens.
“They’re fun and it’s just a fun game,” he said.
Alderson smiles when he says his average has “crawled up a little more than that” referring to the 30s and 40s for nine holes.
He’s had some aces in his golf career, including at Spring Valley’s No. 4 hole around 2000.
“Another thrill I had was a hole in one in Naples, Fla.,” Alderson said.
He spends about five months out of the year in Florida.
“I live on a golf course,” Alderson said.
Also in Osceola County, Alderson plays at Tustin Trails Golf Course.
He moved to the county permamently when he was 63 from Fraser. He did engineering work for the auto industry.
Alderson is a long-time golfer and likes the uniqueness of Spring Valley.
“There’s a lot of water,” he laughed. “I walked every day, about a mile and a half to two miles a day.”
0n the course, “I take a cart since we’re golfing in a league,” Alderson said.
He said he’ll keep playing, perhaps into his 90s.
